The latest on what to expect from a storm that promises to cause major problems as millions travel for the holiday weekend.

A 60-degree day in the middle of December would usually be reason to celebrate but not on Friday. A strong storm will wallop Long Island all day long and we may be dealing with flooding issues and power outages.
A total of 2-3 inches of rain is likely to fall throughout the day, the National Weather Service says.
Coastal flood warnings will be in effect for the entire South Shore as well as the North Fork Friday morning. A coastal flood advisory has been issued for northern Nassau County and northwestern Suffolk County.

Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline is likely and could result in numerous road closures and cause flooding of low-lying property, including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront, the NWS says.

A wind advisory will also be in effect from 1 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday for the entire island. Wind gusts will likely reach 45 mph. Gusts of 50-55 mph are possible across the East End during the afternoon.
