Report: Area School Bus Company Could Close

A school bus company with about 825 Long Island employees said it could close by year's end, in part, because of high labor costs.

In a story late last week, Newsday reported that Atlantic Express Transportation would let go of its 5,500 total employees unless it obtains financing and labor concessions. 

The Staten Island-based company has locations in Farmingdale, Plainview and Oceanside. It transports kids in various Long Island communities.

The local union leader slammed company leadership, blaming them for the company's financial problems.
