Today we chat with Amanda Perrotta, who with her partner Jackie Wall owns The Trendy Owl Boutique at 10 Washington Avenue in Plainview.

Patch: How did you get your first start in business?

Amanda Perrotta: My partner Jackie and I have worked in retail for many years and decided it was time for us to start our own venture!

Patch: How did your parents influence you as a business owner?

Amanda Perrotta: I think for both of us we come from very hard-working families and have always been encouraged to follow our dreams

Patch: How long have you lived here?

Amanda Perrotta: I have lived in Plainview since I was born 32 years ago. My partner Jackie lives in Wantagh for 10 years now.

Patch: What’s your favorite thing about living here?

Amanda Perrotta: It’s home. We are one big family.

Patch: What’s a business mistake you’ve made that later you were glad you did?

Amanda Perrotta: We are only opened three months now – ask us that in a year we may have a better answer.

Patch: Tell us something about yourself that most of your neighbors don’t know.

Amanda Perrotta: I secretly collect and save fashion magazines! And Jackie collects antique sewing machines.

Patch: What’s the best business advice you’ve ever received?

Amanda Perrotta: Nothing worthwhile comes easily.

Patch: What advice would you give to a small business owner just starting out?

Amanda Perrotta: As long as you love what you are doing, you’ll never work a day in your life.
