Victim Hit by Freight Train; LIRR Reporting Big delays

Incident is primarily impacting trains on the Port Jefferson branch.

The Long Island Rail Road is reporting significant delays after an "unauthorized person" was stuck by a freight train east of Hicksville station.

The person's condition was not available. There have been a string of similar incidents along the LIRR's main line this year.

The 5:33 p.m. train from Penn due at Hicksville at 6:29 p.m. is canceled and riders will be accommodated by the 5:35 p.m. train from Penn due Hicksville at 6:15 p.m.

That train runs on the Port Jefferson line, and is scheduled to arrive at Huntington at 6:34 p.m., the railroad said.

The Ronkonkoma branch is not impacted by the incident, the LIRR said, meaning trains will run through Bethpage, Farmingdale and points east.

The two branches split just east of Hicksville station. A freight line shares the use of the LIRR tracks.
