Youth Tennis Program Returning To Farmingdale: How To Sign Up

Boys and girls between ages 5 and 8 will be able to hit the court at Allen Park this summer. Here's more information on registering.

FARMINGDALE, NY — The Town of Oyster Bay’s Youth Tennis Program will return this summer in Farmingdale, Supervisor Joseph Saladino announced.

The program, held at Ellsworth Allen Park, is slated to begin on July 6. The program will feature two separate 6-week sessions and will be open to boys and girls between ages 5 and 8.

Registration for both sessions in the program is set to begin on June 9 at Allen Park, located at 45 Motor Ave. After that, registration will be walk-in only at Town Hall South in Massapequa.

"The Town’s youth tennis program has quickly become one of the most popular recreational and instructional programs we offer!" Saladino said via news release. "This program is a great opportunity for children with no prior tennis experience to learn the fundamentals of tennis directly from some of the area’s finest coaches. I encourage those interested to register, and take advantage of this opportunity to expose your children to a new sport, and potentially discover a new passion!"

Clinics will take place on the following schedule, with clinics lasting for 6 weeks:

  • Tuesdays beginning July 6 at Allen Park, Farmingdale — clinic for 5 and 6-year-olds will take place from 6 p.m. to 6:50 p.m., with the clinic for 7 and 8-year-olds following at 7 p.m. to 7:50 p.m.
  • Thursdays beginning July 8 at Allen Park, Farmingdale — clinic for 5 and 6-year-olds will take place from 6 p.m. to 6:50 p.m., with the clinic for 7 and 8-year-olds following at 7 p.m. to 7:50 p.m.

Registration for the 6-week youth tennis program will cost $60 for residents and $75 for non-residents. The program will take place weather permitting, and if a class is canceled, make-up day(s) will be attempted to be scheduled. Participants must be 5 years old at the start of the program. The Summer 2021 Youth Tennis Program is designed to teach kids the fundamentals of tennis in a structured setting and help bolster their skills. No prior experience is necessary, but participants must bring their own rackets. All other equipment will be provided by the town.
