Man Dies After Being Found in Fire Island Swimming Pool
The death does not appear to be criminal in nature, police say.
FIRE ISLAND, NY – A 32-year-old man died after being found unconscious in a swimming pool at a Fire Island restaurant Thursday night, Suffolk Police said.
Marine Bureau officers responded to Canteen in Fire Island Pines after a 911 call at about 7:05 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Carlos F. Medina unconscious and unresponsive. Medina was transported by boat to Marine Bureau Headquarters at Timber Point and then taken via ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.
Medina, of Manhattan, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The death does not appear to be criminal in nature, police said.
