Woman Drowns In Waters Off Fire Island During Storm
The woman was discovered in the water following the storm on Sunday afternoon.

FIRE ISLAND, NY - A woman died after she drowned in the waters off of Fire Island on Sunday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.
Officers responded to Seaview Marina at 3:40 p.m. after a 911 caller reported finding a body floating in the water near shore.
The caller went into the water on a paddle board and kept the woman floating until officers arrived on scene.

The officers were able to pull the woman, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, into the boat on the paddle board and transported her to Marine Bureau headquarters at Timber Point.
She was then pronounced dead by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The woman is believed to have drowned in rough water due to a storm.
