Unique Shavuot Celebration at Chabad of Hewlett

Unique Shavuot Celebration at Chabad of Hewlett
The Chabad House of Hewlett celebrated the Shavuot holiday in a unique way this year. Due to the current health restriction, the usual celebration attended by hundreds of Jewish families from the greater Hewlett area will not take place.
“But, we believe that every challenge is also an opportunity,” said Rabbi Nochem Tenenboim, “so instead of complaining that we can not celebrate Shavuot like we do every year with so many families together at our Chabad House, we are actually going to increase the celebration!” Thanks to donors and many volunteers, packages delivered to more than 1000 Jewish families in the greater Hewlett area. The package included a cheesecake as well as a special card including the Ten Commandments. It is customary to eat a dairy meal on Shavuot.
Rabbi Tenenboim said, “The idea of Shavuot is unity! And what could be more unifying than everyone able to celebrate this beautiful holiday from home and recite the 10 commandments together as we look forward to better days.”
The Chabad House of Hewlett is the center for Jewish life in the Hewlett area. Serving the entire community regardless of affiliation or level of observance
