12-Year-Old Bicyclist Seriously Hurt In East Rockaway Crash: PD

The boy, who was struck in a parking lot, was airlifted to an area hospital with internal bleeding, Nassau police said.

EAST ROCKAWAY, NY — A 12-year-old bicyclist was airlifted to an area hospital after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot, Nassau police said.

The driver of a 2006 Ford Econoline van was making a right turn when the boy was hit Thursday morning at Ocean Avenue in East Rockaway, detectives said.

The victim is listed in serious condition suffered internal bleeding and multiple cuts to his hands and face, police said in a news release.

No charges were filed, but the investigation is still active, police said. The 54-year-old female driver remained at the scene.
