ALDI, a German grocery store chain, is planning to open its first Nassau County store in Valley Stream next month.

The store, located at 750 Sunrise Highway, is part of the Green Acres Commons. The store will open on Feb. 27 with a ribbon cutting at 8:30 a.m., followed by a "Golden Ticket" giveaway — the first 100 customers will be given gift cards. Customers will also be able to enter a contest to win a year's supply of produce.

The new store is part of ALDI's aggressive expansion campaign, and it won't be the only one opening on Long Island in the coming months. The chain is also opening a store in North Babylon a little later this year.

“The goal of our expansion nationally and locally is to reach new shoppers, and we are growing on Long Island because people want ALDI in their communities,” said Bruce Persohn, South Windsor division vice president for ALDI. “We’ve been operating on Long Island and in New York City for nearly 10 years and have been very successful, which is why we’re opening new stores, including our first store in Nassau County.”
