Author Visit, Board Meetings

Here are some things coming up this week:

• School will be closed on Monday for Veterans Day.
• The Village of Atlantic Beach Board of Trustees will meet Monday at 7:45 p.m.
• Author Roger Rosenblatt will visit Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library on Tuesday at 2 p.m. (tickets required). The board of trustees will meet at 7:45 p.m.
  
• The Lawrence Central Council PTA will meet on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
• The Hewlett-Woodmere Board of Education will hold a work meeting on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
  PTA meetings: Hewlett Elementary School PTA on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.; Woodmere Middle School PTA on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.; Franklin Early Childhood Center PTA on Thursday at 7 p.m. 
• The League of Women Voters will hold a post-election discussion with Newsday Columnist Ellis Henican on Thursday at 6 p.m.
  
• The Village of Hewlett Harbor Board of Trustees will meet on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
• Peaceful Presence Yoga & Massage Studio will hold an open house on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
• NCJW's Peninsula Section will host a screening of Nicholas Kristoff's "Half the Sky: Part II" on Sunday at 2 p.m.
