Cedarhurst Man, Victim Of Elder Scam, Helps Police Investigate

Milyone Clariot, 21, was arrested after attempting to get $6,000 from the victim, police said.

CEDARHURST, NY — An 82-year-old Cedarhurst man was the victim of an "Elder Scam" via phone, Nassau police said.

The man claimed to know who scammed the victim in the past and wanted to be paid for the information, police said.

An undercover operation was started on June 27 and the victim was in contact with the man, detectives said.

A meeting was scheduled on Monday afternoon where the victim would deliver a $6,000 payment, police said a news release.

Milyone Clariot, 21, of Yonkers, arrived at the arranged location on Branch Boulevard, and was taken into custody by police and arrested after further investigation, detectives said. He faces third-degree attempted grand larceny and was used an appearance ticket, police said.
