Contractor Sues SD 15 for Nonpayment

A subcontractor that worked on Sandy-related damage at Lawrence High School has sued the school district for not paying $1.9 million.

The subcontractor, Deer Park-based Essential Electric, filed suit after the district withheld payment of $4.3 million to the project’s contractor, Copaigue-based Renu Restoration & Contracting Inc., the Nassau Herald reported. Renu is one of several companies under investigation by the Nassau County district attorney’s office for prevailing wage or contractual complaints.

The Lawrence Board of Education’s attorney, Al D’Agnostino, said it withheld payment to Renu when it learned of the DA probe.
