Cops Release Photo of Suspected West Hempstead Bank Robber

Police said the man robbed Bank of America early Tuesday afternoon.

Nassau Police have released the identity of a man they suspect of robbing a bank in West Hempstead Tuesday afternoon.

Detectives believe Frederick Rogers, 32, is the man caught on surveillance footage in Bank of America, located at 60 Hempstead Ave. At around 1 p.m. Tuesday, Rogers verbally demanded money from a teller and escaped with an unknown amount of cash, cops said.

Rogers is black, 5-foot-5, 145 pounds, and has short brown hair, brown eyes, a large scar across his left cheek, and tattoos on both hands, police said. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a tan, short sleeve Polo-style shirt with a blue logo on the left side, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
