1. Jerry Barmash has more details on Thursday morning's incident in East Rockaway, where a 12-year-old boy was hit by a car in a parking lot. No charges have been filed but there is still an open investigation. The driver of the vehicle, a 2006 Ford Econoline van, was making a right turn on Ocean Avenue. The boy is in serious condition suffering from internal bleeding and multiple cuts to his hands and face, according to police. (Patch)

2. CBS New York has live video of a dog being stolen from a Valley Stream house. A woman can be seen on a front door camera casually grabbing a 12-year-old Pomeranian on Wednesday afternoon. The dog, Apollo, belongs to Josephine Yeh and has a microchip and health issues. (CBS New York)
3. Jessica M. Semins has a welcome update: The Valley Stream pool in Arthur J. Hendrickson Park opened on June 12, and now that Covid-19 rules are relaxed, chairs are back, along with pre-pandemic season pass rates and daily pass access. (LI Herald)
4. Mike Smollins talks to Tony Leone, who is opening a new performing arts venue, Strongbox Theater in the empty former East Rockaway National Bank and Trust Company building. Leone plans to offer free summer plays at Memorial Park this summer as he works on his new venue. (LI Herald)
5. Joan Gralla tells us the fourth arrest in connection with the Times Square antisemitic beating of Lawrence's Joseph Borgen has been made. A 14-year-old boy has been arrested, but his name has not been released. (Newsday)

- Summer "playschool" starts Monday in the Hewlett-Woodmere school district.
- Not only is Nassau County ahead of the national average of vaccinated adults, the share of 12 to 15-year olds is higher here as well. Nassau County boasts 69.7 percent of adults fully vaccinated, compared to New York's 63.5 and the U.S. 56 percent. (Patch) For 12 to 15-year-olds, Nassau's rate of 35.9 percent with at least one dose and 26 percent with two is higher than New York State's overall average. (Newsday)
