Election Day, Fundraiser for Deceased Lawrence Boy

Here are some things coming up this week:

  • The villages of Cedarhurst and Hewlett Neck usually meet on the first Monday of the month at 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday is Election Day. Check out our guide later for recaps of all the local races.
  • The HAFTR Hawks and Inwood Buccaneers will play a fundraising game on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in memory of Giovanni Cipriano, who died after suffering a massive reaction to peanuts. Details here.
  • Children ages 6 through 10 are invited to listen to the story of the American Girl, Felicity, in the parlor of Rock Hall Museum on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Refreshments included. There is a $5 fee per child. 
  • Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. will feature a 90-minute narrated retrospective on the fads, current events, culture, fashion, music and mayhem of the 1960s in between two dozen songs performed live by the band Just Sixties.
  • Hewlett-Woodmere Schools: There will be a SEPTA board meeting at Woodmere Education Center on Monday at 10 a.m.; schools are closed on Tuesday for Election Day; The Ogden PTA will meet on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.; Ogden will hold a blood drive on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.; Woodmere Middle School parent-teacher conferences will be held on Thursday and Friday; there will be no school at WMS on Friday.
  • Lawrence Schools: The Board of Education will meet on Monday at 8 p.m.; schools will be closed on Tuesday for Election Day; there will be a PTA meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday; parent-teacher conferences take place Thursday, when students will be dismissed at 11:50 a.m.
