- Jeff Bessen has the details on an adjustment to Hewlett-Woodmere School District's tax levy increase. Accounting for new state funding, the Board of Education voted for a reduction from a 1.95 percent tax levy increase ($2,068,359) to 1.65 percent, now a $1,758,820 increase from last year. - Jeff Bessen also updates us that the Nassau Expressway reopened after 14 hours of cleanup from Wednesday morning's fuel tanker spill. Inwood, Lawrence-Cedarhurst and Long Beach emergency services responded to the 11,000-gallon fuel tanker that was on its side. (LI Herald)
- News 12 reports that a fifth arrest in the antisemitic beating of Joseph Borgen of Lawrence in Times Square in May. Mohammed Othman, 24, of Staten Island, was arrested and charged with first-degree gang assault, third-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment as hate crimes. (News 12)
- Nassau County and South Shore towns are warning that the remnants of Tropical Storm Elsa are predicted to hit early Friday morning during high tide, possibly leading to flooding. (News 12)
