First Freezing Temps To Hit Long Island This Week

Yup, it's time to break out the winter jacket. But first a warm and stormy Monday.

The coldest air of the season is headed for Long Island this week. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing Friday night and they could come close to the freezing mark (32 degrees) again Saturday night.

The work week starts off unseasonably warm and wet. The high will be near 70 Monday. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are in the forecast.

“Temperatures will be well above average on Monday ahead of a cold front approaching from the west,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Steve Travis said.
