Franklin Square Bagel Shop Named Nation's Top Bagel Producer
The shop received the honor and hosted a celebration attended by local officials.

FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY - A&S Bagels in Franklin Square recently received the distinction as the top bagel producer in the country.
Hempstead Town Supervisor Anthony J. Santino, Councilman Ed Ambrosino, Councilman Bruce Blakeman, Assemblyman Ed Ra, representatives from the Franklin Square Chamber of Commerce and the Franklin Square and Munson Fire Department along with neighbors and the Hempstead Town Clerk Nasrin Ahmad and Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin were all at the shop the celebration the honor earlier this month.
Santino, Ambrosino and Blakeman presented Antonio Scolieri of A&S with a giant “5-foot bagel” to commemorate the achievement, along with an official Hempstead Town citation.

The bagel shop was listed among the best 20 bagelrys in the country within a recent article published by MSN.com. .
“Though it has received national accolades, A&S has and always will be a staple of Franklin Square and surrounding communities,” Ambrosino said.

“No matter where you go in our township, A&S Bagels is beloved and now it is getting well-deserved praise on a national stage,” Blakeman said.
A&S Bagels, located at 761 Hempstead Turnpike, is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
The shop serves more than 20 varieties of bagels, an assortment of baked goods, signature sandwiches and a variety of cream cheese spreads, salads, coffees and much more.
A&S is also a national distributor of its kettle-boiled, baked bagels, whether they are fresh, frozen, cooked or uncooked.
“This popular 24-hour, 7-day-a-week operation is a favorite of many across the Town of Hempstead and Long Island for its delicious old-fashioned, kettle boiled and baked bagels,” Santino said. “Being named as one of our country’s top bagel shops is quite an achievement and we’re proud to have this famous business in our township.”
