Police Rescues Man Who Jumped into Hook Creek

Nassau County Emergency Personnel on Monday saved a man who had jumped into Hook Creek.

On Aug. 19 at 6:35, emergency service officers responded to the rear of a Rosedale Road home for a call about a 23-year-old Queens’ man who threatened to jump into Hook Creek. While one ESU officer engaged the man in conversation, a second officer donned a survival suit to prepare for a rescue.

The man then dove into the creek. The ESU officer followed him into the water and needed to dive down numerous times to get a hold of the victim, according to police. The officer struggled with the man as he brought him to the ledge where awaiting ESU officers pulled him to safety.

The aided was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.

Cops are investigating an attempted gunpoint robbery in Lakeview Sunday.

Cops: Craigslist Scammer Pulls Gun on Customer

According to police, at 1:20 p.m., a 44-year-old male victim responded to a Craigslist ad for a Rolex watch. When the victim met at the agreed intersection of Robin Court and Park Avenue, the suspect reached into a blue backpack and pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun.

A struggle ensued, and the suspect was able to break free and flee via a waiting vehicle. The automobile traveled down Eagle Avenue before going westbound on the Southern State Parkway.

The suspect is described as a black man, about six feet tall with a muscular build. The vehicle is described as a blue GMC or Chevy SUV. There were no proceeds taken or reported injuries, cops added.

OMC Gang Member Cops to Shooting of Informant

A member of the Bloods gang that lives in Old Mill Court, who in the past was acquitted of murder, has admitted to his role in the 2011 shooting of a police informant.

Carl Perryman pled guilty on Aug. 16 to two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon in-aid-of racketeering and one count of discharge of a firearm, according to Rockville Centre Police Commissioner C.A. Gennario. He faces a 25 to 30 year prison term at his sentencing on Dec. 20.

Perryman was arrested in February 2011 with Charles Sullins on federal charges of attempted murder.
