Israeli Major General to Speak in Hewlett

A ranking member of the Israeli Defense Force will be in Hewlett on Saturday to update the community on the circumstances in Israel.

Major General Yair Naveh will speak at the Chabad of Hewlett (31 Franklin Ave.) on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Since being recruited to the IDF in 1975, Naveh has held several command positions including brigade commander of the Golani Brigade, at the Israel-Lebanon border, Gaza Division and others. Until recently, Naveh served as Deputy IDF Chief of the General Staff. 

"We now more than ever have to be informed as to the status of security of the State of Israel," said Rabbi Nochem Tenenboim of Chabad of Hewlett. "We have to be vigilant at every border and there is no one better than Major General Naveh to give us a clear and accurate picture of what's going on. It is a perfect opportunity for our community to stand with Israel."

The Chabad said the entire community is invited to attend, regardless of affiliation.
