The JCC of the Greater Five Towns’ Holocaust survivors group recently joined in a ceremony to remember and honor the six million lives lost during this horrific time in Jewish history.Â
From the JCC:
Violin music played as members openly grieved to loss of their loved ones and friends. During the ceremony the survivors group lit memorial candles and had a chance to recite the Kaddish and El Maleh Rachamim, traditional Jewish prayers. They also read heartfelt poems, which they wrote together, to honor those who perished.
The JCC of the Greater Five Towns’ Holocaust survivors is an enrichment program meant for those who lived through the horrific events of that time period.
Every week, survivors come together to socialize and enjoy each other’s company in a warm and comfortable atmosphere, which often includes luncheons, music and dance, and other cultural and recreational pursuits.
The JCC also offers the survivors health monitoring services, group therapy, short-term counseling, crisis intervention, home visits and assistance with entitlements.
