Lawrence Announces Top Three Scholars for the Class of 2021
Amy Sharin, Nader Daruvala, and Daniela Andrade Named Valedictorian, Salutatorian and Honor Speaker for the Class of 2021
Lawrence, N.Y. — The Lawrence Union Free School District has officially announced Lawrence High School’s top three scholars for the Class of 2021: Amy Sharin, valedictorian; Nader Daruvala, salutatorian; and Daniela Andrade, honor speaker.
“We are immensely proud of the hard work that Amy, Nader, and Daniela have put in during their academic careers,” said Dr. Ann Pedersen, superintendent of the Lawrence Union Free School District. “These students represent our district beautifully, and I have no doubt that they will succeed tremendously in whatever path they take in life.”
Amy Sharin, valedictorian, is interested in studying chemical engineering in college and eventually work within the renewable energy/sustainability field. One of her greatest accomplishments is the research she helped conduct on fuel cells through the Garcia Summer Scholars Program that was presented at the Materials Research Society fall conference. Additionally, Amy is captain of Lawrence’s girls’ soccer and basketball teams and treasurer of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She plans on majoring in chemical engineering at either Rice University or Cornell University, both of which she has gained admission.

Nader Daruvala, salutatorian, is a dedicated student who has proudly served as secretary of Key Club, junior vice president and vice president of Tri-M Music Honor Society, and has participated in varsity cross country and track and field. He is also a two-time DECA internationals competitor and principal clarinetist for the high school wind ensemble. Nader has attended the All-Star Code SI, where he was a member of a team of students developing a web app called “Inventure.” He credits his AP chemistry teacher, Ms. Isseroff, with inspiring him to follow his passion for computer science, which he plans on majoring in at either Cornell University or Carnegie Mellow, both of which he has gained admission.
Daniela Andrade, honor speaker, is involved in almost every sector of Lawrence High School, being SGA president, science bowl president, history club president, and a member of various clubs including model congress (where she is the assistant chair board member) and debate club. Daniela was also on the girls’ cross country, indoor, and outdoor track teams’ captain. As a freshman, she ran the sixth-fastest 5k ever run by any Lawrence High School female with a time of 22:36. She founded her own club, called College Bound, where she provides resources and assistance to Lawrence students in the college application process. She plans to study biomedical engineering at Harvard with the goal of becoming a doctor.
