Lawrence MS Assistant Principal Gets a Building of Her Own
Rina Beach named new principal of Number Five School.

Rina Beach, who has worked in the Lawrence School District for the past dozen years with her most recent stint as assistant principal of Lawrence Middle School, has been appointed to the top position at the Number Five School.
“It feels very exciting. I’m ready to go to my building,” Beach said. “I feel very grateful for the support of the community.”
Beach joined the district as an eighth grade English teacher 12 years ago, then worked in the high school. She also served as the director of English, social studies and reading for grades six through 12. Four years ago, she was named assistant principal of Lawrence Middle School, where was also chairwoman of English Language Arts.

Beach will replace Jennifer DeSena, who left the district for another position, as principal of Number Five School.
“It’s the middle school’s loss, but it’s a true gift to the Number Five School,” said Heidi Beyer, co-president of the Lawrence Central Council PTA.

Beach said she has been working closely with Assistant Superintendent Dr. Ann Pedersen and Number Two School Principal Cindy Lee to prepare for the next school year.
“We’re very happy Rina Beach will be moving into this position,” said Superintendent Gary Schall, who praised Beach for leadership after Sandy struck. “The level of confidence this district has in Rina Beach is extraordinary.”
