Lawrence High School Hosts Tri-M Music Honor Society Induction Ceremony and Recital
Lawrence, N.Y.— The Lawrence Union Free School District recently hosted its annual Tri-M (Modern Music Masters) Honor Society induction ceremony and recital at Lawrence High School. This year’s livestreamed ceremony featured the induction of members from both 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, due to the pandemic cancelling last year’s in-person event.
“Music education in our district is critical to student success and there is a significant amount of research that supports the positive relationship between music education and academic performance,” said Dr. Jennifer Lagnado-Papp, principal of Lawrence High School. “Our students are ambassadors of music and their performances add a special element to all of our school and community events.”
In addressing the students at the ceremony, Dr. Ann Pedersen, Superintendent of the Lawrence Union Free School District, stated, “This is a beautiful moment as we celebrate the hard work that you began so long ago on your musical careers in Lawrence. . You have worked so hard throughout these difficult times and your contributions to our school district community inspire us all.”

After the inductees were recognized, closing remarks were made by Mrs. Pam Gallopini, District Music Coordinator, who applauded the students' perseverance during such uncertain times and discussed upcoming music competitions and festivals in the fall.
The ceremony then featured a video compilation of Lawrence Tri-M Music Honor Society members discussing what music means to them. The recital portion of the ceremony followed the video and featured live performances from Tri-M members singing and playing various instruments such as the piano, cello, violin, viola, snare drum, and marimba.
