Lawrence Primary School Celebrates “Week of the Young Child”
Early Childhood Students are Celebrated through Art, Music and Creativity
Lawrence, N.Y. — Lawrence Early Childhood in the Lawrence Union Free School District recently celebrated the “Week of the Young Child,” an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to spotlight early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities. The 5-day fun-filled themed week celebrated the District’s youngest learners through music, literacy, science, social-emotional learning and more.
The week kicked off with Music Monday. Students sang, danced, and learned together through music--helping them further enhance their math, language, and literacy skills all while having fun and getting active together.
Next was Tasty Tuesday, a food-themed day focused on the encouragement of healthy eating and nutrition as well as fitness habits that students could learn at home or in the classroom. At 7:00 p.m., a special nutrition night workshop was held virtually with nutritionist Izabella Levi and all students received an activity to complete during the event.

Family Friday involved engaging and celebrating families as a vital part of a young child’s growth and maturation. Families were encouraged to create photo collages with their children and participate in a family game called “Crazy 8’s” to work on number recognition.
