Lawrence Primary School Celebrates Culture and Heritage with Students and Staff for Multicultural Day
Lawrence, N.Y. — Students at Lawrence Primary School in the Lawrence Union Free School District recently learned about cultural heritage, traditions, and different culinary customs as a part of their Multicultural Day celebration. The event was created for students and staff to embrace their different heritages, share their cultures and express their family traditions with one another.
Some students even decided to dress up in clothing that reflected their heritage, teaching their friends and peers about their family’s ancestral legacy in very colorful and engaging fashion. Staff assisted students in celebrating their culture by focusing discussions about different aspects that make up someone's culture and having students share personal items related to their heritage.
The day was a great way for students to be reminded about the importance of acceptance and kindness while bringing people together and learning from one another. The Lawrence Union Free School District believes events like these promote tolerance and curiosity in students. By learning about other cultures and sharing traditions with friends, students become better global citizens while becoming closer with their peers.
