In today's Daily, read about some new hires at Hewlett-Woodmere schools. Lawrence High School is looking for a way to offer A.P. Chemistry next year. Prom is coming up for Hewlett, and there is Covid testing available today for attendees. A Valley Stream teenager won a college scholarship with her vaccine shot. The Inwood Marina has gotten a revamp.

1. Jeff Bessen has the story on Lawrence High School looking for a way to continue offering Advanced Placement chemistry next year. Only three students are qualified, but the district says it wants to find a way to continue offering the course, through a grant. (LI Herald)
2. Matthew Ferremi reports on three new administrative hires in the Hewlett-Woodmere School District. Dr. Mary Bediako will be interim executive director of human resources, Dr. Andrew Fund will be new director of art and music, and Phillip McEneaney will take over as director of health, safety and security. 3. Matthew Ferremi also has a story on a longtime Inwood Fire Captain Anthony "Tony" Romano who died in May at age 66. Romano was known to help his community and always be around to lend a hand at the firehouse. (LI Herald)
4. Jeff Bessen also updates us on the Inwood Park marina project, which was completed this week. The $2.7 million Nassau County project began in 2019 and was formally unveiled Thursday with elected officials hailing it as a great improvement for Inwood. (LI Herald)
5. Bart Jones tells us how a Valley Stream 13-year-old Jasmine Thalon was one of two Long Islanders to win a scholarship to any public college in New York State as part of a vaccine-incentive lottery. (Newsday)

- PCR Covid testing is available for students attending Hewlett High School prom on June 14. From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. the testing is open to any student from any district going to Hewlett's prom.

- Woodmere's James Silberger made the Dean's List at James Madison University for spring 2021. He's is majoring in sport and recreation management. (Merit Pages News)
- The Valley Stream Historical Society has reopened the Pagan Fletcher Restoration which was closed during the pandemic. (LI Herald)
- Lawrence senior Natalie Bran was named one of Newsday's "Extraordinary Seniors" for her community service. The Inwood resident logged 2,000 hours at Gammy's Pantry, the local community center’s food pantry. (Newsday)
- SUNY Canton awarded Jeanette Richetti of Cedarhurst part-time Honors for the spring 2021 semester. She's a Health Care Management major.
