Man Told Officers 'You're Going To Have To Shoot Me:' Nassau PD

Police say the man stole a car, but initially refused to listen to officers when they pulled him over.

INWOOD, NY — A Brooklyn man was arrested Friday after Nassau police say he stole a car, and then told officers that they were going to have to shoot him.

According to police, officers responded to an alarm at Carvana, located at 40 Sheridan Boulevard in Inwood, at 12:40 a.m. Friday. When they arrived, the officers saw the garage door was open and several lights were on inside. As they were checking the outside of the building, police say a silver Infiniti that was inside the lot drove through the locked fence and turned right onto Sheridan Boulevard.

The officers gave chase and managed to pull the car over near the intersection of Doughty Boulevard and Nassau Expressway, police said. According to police, the driver — Eric Lawson, 24, of Miller Avenue, Brooklyn — got out of the car and began shouting at the officers, "Shoot me. you're going to have to shoot me."
