Meetings, Sept. 11, Yom Kippur

Here are some things happening this week:

• School begins in the Lawrence School District today.
• The Lawrence School Board will be holding a special meeting at 8 p.m. Monday in the middle school.
• The Atlantic Beach Village Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting on Monday at 7:45 p.m. Check out the meeting agenda here.
• Sept. 11, or Patriot Day, is Wednesday. The Village of Cedarhurst will hold a memorial ceremony at the Andrew J. Parise Park at 6 p.m.
• The Village of Hewlett Harbor Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m.
• The Five Towns Kiwanis will host a wine tasting on Thursday at 7 p.m.
• Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, begins Friday night.
