New Businesses: Feel Savvy at Lawrence's "Sheek" Boutique

The owner of Lawrence’s newest boutique, Savvy Sheek, hopes its name and distance from similar shops, as well as its reasonable prices, will help it stand out from the crowded clothing marketplace of Central Avenue.

Woodmere resident Miriam Dure, co-owner of the shop at 359 Central Ave., said that when people walk in the door, they’ll notice a pop of color in its clothing. She said the store’s inventory is “nice, beautiful” and “very reasonably priced.”

“We want people to look good and feel good for a good price. They want to shop and not break their pocketbook,” she said. “There’s a lot of different stuff, not just one style. Everyone can find something here.”

Savvy Sheek, which opened in February, carries clothing and accessories including jewelry, hair pieces, pocketbooks and hats. Further helping it stand out, Dure said, is that the store carries from sizes extra small to 3X. She said that the “plus sizes are just as fashionable as the extra small.”

Dure said people should check out Savvy Sheek for the “unexpected.” She also said the store’s customer service is “outstanding” and her clientele has been very satisfied.

“We’re more of a boutique style, very cozy, very comfortable, very warm,” she said. “We can spend two hours with a customer easily.”
