Police: Man Lures Child Into Car, Then Confesses to Her Father

Police say Far Rockaway man lured girl from Chabad of the Five Towns on Saturday and then confessed to the girl's father.

A Far Rockaway man lured a girl into his car in Cedarhurst on Saturday, according to Nassau County Police.

According to detectives, Yan Kossa, 39, was worshiping at Chabad of the Five Towns, located at 74 Maple Avenue, when he approached a 7-year-old girl and asked her if she wanted to come outside with him at about 1:40 p.m.

Kossa led the girl outside and placed her into his car, police said. Kossa then returned to the Chabad and notified the child’s father about what he had done, police said.

The child was found safe inside the vehicle, which was parked down the street from the Chabad, police said.

Kossa was arrested at 2:55 p.m. and charged with second degree unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.

Kossa was arraigned in court on Sunday and is being held on $10,000 bail.
