Long Island Weather: Remnants Of Irma Approaching; Hurricane Jose Continues To Linger In Atlantic
Wet weather is on the way as the last remnants of Hurricane Irma approach the region.

The last remnants of Hurricane Irma are expected impact Long Island in two rounds this week.
"The first will come this afternoon and tonight as a warm front draws closer, leading to a chance of showers mainly this afternoon and tonight," the National Weather Service says. "The next round should arrive beginning Thursday afternoon, with chances for showers and thunderstorms continuing into Friday."
Irma is little more than a cluster of rain showers at this point, a far cry from the once-Category 5 hurricane that has killed 56 people in the United States and Caribbean.

AccuWeather says the precipitation won't be any cause for concern.
"There will still be enough moisture for scattered showers, but it will in no way be a washout or bring a flash flood threat to the area," AccuWeather Meteorologist Brett Rathbun said. "However, those attending any outdoor events will want to grab a jacket or umbrella."

Hurricane Jose
Building swells from distant Hurricane Jose will pose a threat for high surf, dune erosion and a high risk of rip currents at Long Island beaches this weekend and into early next week, the NWS says in a hazardous weather outlook issued for the region.
Jose, currently a Category 1 storm with sustained winds of 75 mph, was churning about 500 miles to the east-northeast of the Bahamas Wednesday morning.

Jose is expected to make a slow clockwise loop over the next three days and then turn northward and northeastward, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Most forecast models continue to show Jose eventually going out to sea with no direct threat to the United States, but the forecasters say the storm will have to be watched to see how close it gets to the East Coast early next week.
