LAWRENCE, NY — Two new Target stores are coming to Nassau County, but they will be smaller than the average Target store.

One new store is planned at 345 Rockaway Turnpike in Lawrence, replacing closed businesses in the shopping center there. The Target will be 43,000 square feet.

"We’re excited to bring an easy, safe and convenient shopping experience to new guests in the community with this new Target store," a company spokesperson said.

According to the Target website, the small-format stores are about 1/3 the size of a traditional Target (around 40,000 square feet compared to 130,000), but have many of the same features. They are designed for urban and dense suburban areas, and have "assortments curated specifically for these communities."
