Nassau Chef To Appear On Food Network's 'Beat Bobby Flay'

Here's how you can watch.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A Valley Stream chef will appear this week on the Food Network's show "Beat Bobby Flay." The episode will feature actress and comedian Tina Fey and celebrity chef Bobby Flay.

Alexcia Smith has worked for big names such as Alicia Keys and Bow Wow, Newsday reported. But the Nassau County chef will face one of her biggest tests this week when she takes on former stuntwoman-turned-chef Asia Mei in an episode titled "Fey vs. Flay."

The episode will air Thursday at 10 p.m., then again on Friday at 1 a.m., according to the Food Network's website. The episode will air again Nov. 3 and Nov. 4 for those who miss it.

Smith was born in Kingston, Jamaica, but raised in Hempstead, Newsday reported. Her neighbor in the Hamptons, where Smith lives part of the year, recommended her for the show through a producer. When the producer called and asked her to come on the show, Smith was in disbelief.

"I thought it was a prank," she told Newsday. "I didn't call him back, so he sends me a text message. That's when I thought, 'Maybe this is real!'"
