$96K Income Needed To Apply For 'Affordable' Flushing Apartments

A four-story red brick building has replaced these houses at 168-05 Depot Road, city records show. Its "affordable" units start at $1,700.

FLUSHING, QUEENS -- A batch of brand new "affordable" apartments has hit Flushing's housing market - you'll just need an annual income of nearly $100,000 to apply.

Three new apartments at 168-05 Depot Road will be up for grabs on NYC Housing Connect from Tuesday until July 3, but they're only available to applicants earning roughly between $60,000 and $135,000 per year, city records show.

A one-bedroom apartment is available at $1,700 per month to either a single person earning between $58,286 and $95,030 or two people earning a combined income between $58,286 and $108,550, according to the NYC Housing Connect listing.

Two more two-bedroom apartments are also available for a monthly rent of $1,950 to groups of two, three or four people earning between $66,858 and $135,590, according to city records.

The apartment complex features a laundry room and parking, but both amenities will cost you extra, according to the NYC Housing Connect listing.

As far as transportation goes, the apartments are located near the Long Island Rail Road Broadway station and Q28 and Q12 bus stations, the listing says.

The apartment building is smoke-free and unites require no brokers or application fees. Preference for a small portion of its units is given to applicants with mobility, vision or hearing disabilities, according to city records.
