COLLEGE POINT, QUEENS — The Canaan Yipsung Church in College Point and a neighboring home quietly hit the market earlier this year for nearly $5.5 million.

The 22,000 square foot plot of land at 13-15 and 13-21 College Point Blvd. is being marketed as an "excellent opportunity for the redevelopment," the listing states.

The Canaan Yipsung Church houses a 150-person sanctuary hall, several kindergarten classrooms and a playground, according to the listing.

It was previously home to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, founded in 1836, and the Korean Methodist Church of New York, city real estate records and archival images show.

Then the Diocese of Long Island sold the lot for $2.2 million to Canaan Yipsung, a pentecostal church, real estate records show.

Reached by phone, real estate agent Ken Choi said the church is selling the property to move to a quieter, more secluded location on Long Island.

Representatives for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church's mid-Atlantic conference did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
