Cyclist Killed In LaGuardia Hit-And-Run: Police

The 36-year-old man was hit on a service road leading into the airport and died shortly after, police said.

EAST ELMHURST, QUEENS -- A bicyclist was killed in Queens by a hit-and-run driver who plowed into him Monday evening on a service road into LaGuardia Airport, police said.

The 36-year-old man was riding his bicycle along Runway Drive at around 7:20 p.m. when the unknown vehicle mowed him down and then sped off, police told Patch. The hit-and-run was first reported by the New York Daily News.

Medics rushed the cyclist to Elmhurst Hospital, where he died shortly after, Port Authority Police spokesman Joe Pentangelo said. Cops have not yet release his identity.

Runway Drive was closed down between 94th Street and Marine Terminal Road in both directions while police investigated, he said.
