Educators Endorse John Choe for City Council
CSA & Senator Jackson Join Assembly Member Ron Kim, 1199 SEIU & Working Families Party in Supporting Choe

John Choe, candidate for City Council in District 20, received the endorsement of educators at the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators (CSA) as well as Senator Robert Jackson, who led the Campaign for Fiscal Equity to secure billions in State funds for City school children.
“John has been a friend and an ally in our campaign to fully fund our public schools, first as Chief of Staff to John Liu, and now as a community organizer working to expand language access, transportation equity, and educational rights for New York families,” said Senator Robert Jackson, Chair of the Committee on Cities. “I’m confident that John will continue to be the bold and effective advocate we need as the next Council Member to represent District 20 at City Hall.”
As School Board President, Jackson launched the Campaign for Fiscal Equity school funding lawsuit, walked 150 miles to Albany to highlight the cause, and won a court judgment that awarded $16 billion for NYC public schools. This year, New York State finally agreed to pay an additional $1 billion a year for City schools as a result of the Campaign for Fiscal Equity lawsuit.
“The Council of School Supervisors and Administrators is proud to endorse John Choe for City Council. John is a teacher at Queens College, a union member, and a long-time public education advocate who worked to fund computer and science labs in every public school in his district when he was Chief of Staff to John Liu,” declared Mark Cannizzaro, President of the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators. “If elected to represent District 20, John pledges to support building new schools to relieve classroom overcrowding in the district, the expansion of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) programs, and the restoration of a tuition-free CUNY policy to expand equal opportunity and social mobility.“
The Council of School Supervisors and Administrators (CSA) represents more than 6,000 school principals, supervisors and educators who work in the public schools and city-subsidized Centers for Early Childhood Education (ECE). CSA also has more than 10,000 members in its Retiree Chapter. For more information, visit csa-nyc.org.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the educators at CSA and Senator Robert Jackson, architect of the Campaign for Fiscal Equity,” stated John Choe, executive director of the and candidate for City Council in District 20. “60% of our classrooms are overcrowded and language accessibility continues to be a challenge for our diverse community. When I’m elected the next Council Member for District 20, we will work with CSA educators and Senator Jackson to transform our education system to be racially just, inclusive, and well-funded.”
