Emblem Health and the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce will give out free lunchboxes on Wednesday, October 16, 2:30pm, at Maple Playground Greenmarket, located at Kissena Boulevard and Maple Avenue in downtown Flushing, Queens. The free giveaway will promote the last month of the Maple Playground Greenmarket for this year's season, which ends on November 27, 2019.

"We're happy to collaborate with our member Emblem Health to promote another amazing month of health education and local food at our Greenmarket," said John Choe, executive director of the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce. "In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables from local farms, our Greenmarket feature free cooking demonstrations and nutrition workshops for the local community."

The Flushing Greenmarket was launched at Maple Playground in the summer of 2016 with the support of the Chamber and is operated by GrowNYC, a nonprofit organization that seeks to improve New York City's quality of life through environmental programs that transform communities block by block and empower all New Yorkers to secure a clean and healthy environment for future generations.

The Greenmarket is open every Wednesday until November 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Located at Maple Playground, the Greenmarket provides our community with access to farm fresh food from R & G Produce Vegetables in New York's Orange County. The Department of Health’s Stellar Farmers’ Markets Program conducts weekly bilingual nutrition education workshops and cooking demonstrations as well. Every participant over 18 years of age will receive a $2 Health Buck coupon for attending the workshop to use towards the purchase of fruits and vegetables.

The Greenmarket accepts WIC and FMNP checks as well as SNAP payments. Health Bucks are also available. For every $5 spent in EBT, customers receive a $2 Health Buck coupon to purchase additional fruits and vegetables.
