COLLEGE POINT, QUEENS — A firefighter rescued a 4-year-old boy trapped in a dangerously hot car in Queens on Thursday.

FDNY firefighter Matthew Clinton was nearby a Target in College Point when passersby told him there was a child stuck in the backseat of a parked car, according to ABC7.

Clinton broke the driver's seat window, unlocked the doors and pulled the boy out of the car.

The boy's father, New Rochelle resident Geremie Ram, told police he'd gone into the Target to make a quick return, according to ABC7. But investigators said he had been buying pills.

Ram, 42, now faces charges of reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a controlled substance for several Xanax pills.

He is now in his mother's care, according to CBS New York.

The FDNY urges New Yorkers to never leave children alone in a car on a warm day, even if outside temperatures don't seem hot enough to cause harm.
