Flushing Chamber Welcomes Completion of Main Street Upgrade
The Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce welcomed the completion of the long-delayed reconstruction and sidewalk widening on Main Street.

Flushing, NY -- The Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce issued a statement today welcoming the completion of the long-delayed reconstruction and sidewalk widening of Main Street in Flushing, Queens.
"We are pleased that our sidewalks have finally been widened and we can get back to what they do so well: creating the most dynamic business community in New York," stated Taehoon Kim, President of the Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce. "We are the City's second busiest intermodal transportation hub and pedestrian intersection. It is foot traffic and public transit that drives our economy and any improvement in our transportation infrastructure is a huge boon to business. We are grateful to the
Department of Transportation for following through on their promises to invest in our community's future prosperity."
During construction, southbound traffic on Main Street in downtown Flushing was restricted to buses and delivery vehicles. Local business owners complained about the severe traffic congestion and limited access by customers during construction.
