High School In Flushing Among Country's Best For STEM: Report
Townsend Harris was one of just two Queens high schools to earn a spot on Newsweek's list of the top 500 STEM high schools in the country.
FLUSHING, QUEENS — Townsend Harris High School is among the best schools in the country when it comes to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, according to a new ranking by Newsweek.
The Flushing high school was one of just two Queens high schools to earn a spot on Newsweek's list of the top 500 STEM high schools in the country, ranking at number 237.
Queens High School for the Sciences at York College came in at number 140.

"With high-profile institutions in big urban areas and small but strong programs across the nation, America's future in science, technology, engineering and mathematics is in good hands," the report's researchers said.
Newsweek and STEM.org used a regression analysis to determine which schools had the best quality science, technology, engineering and mathematics teaching, while also preparing students for life after graduation.

The School of Science and Engineering in Dallas, Texas, took the number-one spot.
