Flushing Man Gets 15 Years For Kissena Park Sexual Assaults

The Flushing resident had pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting two women in Kissena Park on two consecutive days in 2017.

FLUSHING, QUEENS — A judge sentenced a Flushing man to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting two women in Kissena Park on two consecutive days in 2017.

Charles Tobin, 31, will spend 15 years in prison for rape and sexual abuse charges followed by 10 years' post-release supervision, Queens Supreme Court Justice Richard L. Buchter ruled.

Tobin pleaded guilty in April to robbing and sexually assaulting two women at knifepoint on July 18 and 19, 2017.

"The city's parks should be a safe place to visit on any day at any time of the day," Chief Assistant District Attorney John M. Ryan said after Tobin pleaded guilty in April. "This defendant, however, made this peaceful green space a terrifying place for women."
