Free Queens Jazz Fest Will Feature 6 Local Groups
The daylong jazz festival Sunday features performances by six Queens-based ensembles and several student groups.
FLUSHING, QUEENS — Jazz fans can get grooving this weekend, when Queens Jazz Overground hosts its seventh annual Spring Jazz Fest.
Queens Jazz OverGround, a collective of Queens-based musicians, will mark the seventh rendition of its spring jazz festival Sunday with a day of free workshops and performances at Flushing Town Hall. Attendees must RSVP online to receive up to four free tickets.
The program features performances by Coalescence, the Hashem Assadullahi Quartet, the Sam Bevan Quintet, the Ken Fowser Quartet and the Lauren Lee Trio. Grammy-nominated trombonist Stafford Hunter will close out the day's events with an 8 p.m. performance with vocalist Taeko.

The lineup also includes student jazz ensembles from Louis Armstrong Middle School in East Elmhurst, Francis Lewis High School in Fresh Meadows and Brooklyn's Midwood High School.
Queens Jazz OverGround's Spring Jazz Fest takes place on March 31 from 12:15 to 9 p.m. at Flushing Town Hall, located at 137-35 Northern Blvd. in Queens.
