Mets Officially Rename Street By Citi Field 'Seaver Way'
The New York Mets on Thursday unveil a new name for 126th Street by Citi Field: "Seaver Way," after legendary pitcher Tom Seaver.

WILLETS POINT, QUEENS — The City Council on Wednesday gave the thumbs up to the New York Mets' plan to rename a street by Citi Field after legendary pitcher Tom Seaver.
The baseball team will rename 126th Street "Seaver Way" in honor of the Hall of Fame pitcher, who helped lead the team to a landmark victory in the 1969 World Series. The Mets will host a ceremonial unveiling of the new street name Thursday.
The street renaming coincides with the 50th anniversary of the historic World Series win, which the Mets will celebrate the weekend of June 28-30 as they play against the Atlanta Braves.

"Tom Seaver may not have laid the bricks of Citi Field but he helped build the foundation this franchise is celebrated for," City Council Member Francisco Moya, who sponsored the bill, said. "It’s only fitting for Citi Field to now reside on 41 Seaver Way."
Seaver won the prestigious Cy Young award three times throughout his career, earning the nickname "Tom Terrific."
