Simon spent his formative years in Queens, so returning to the borough for his final concert means a great deal to him.

"It seems more like fate than coincidence that I should do the final show on this final tour at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. I could have ridden my bike from home to the park in about 20 minutes when I was a kid,” he said.

Simon grew up at 137-62 70 Road in Kew Gardens Hills. Simon and his musical partner Art Garfunkel returned to the house for photographs in his old driveway in 1975.

Queens residents and political figures are heart-warmed to know that the borough still means so much to the singer after decades of fame and travel.

“The grit, beauty and complexity of this city are woven into Simon's most haunting songs, and our greatest venues have formed the backdrop of his performing career. It's only fitting that this son of Queens comes home to Flushing Meadows Corona Park," said Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Still, Simon is trying to see his final concert as a beautiful moment in his career rather than a melancholy ending.

“This is less a goodbye than a farewell," he said. "Thank you all for the ride, I had a great time.”
