St. John's University Student Stabs Alum At Frat House: Reports

A lacrosse captain at St. John's University in Queens was arrested this week for allegedly stabbing and nearly disemboweling his roommate.

FRESH MEADOWS, QUEENS — A lacrosse captain at St. John's University in Queens was arrested this week for stabbing and nearly disemboweling his roommate during a fight at an unsanctioned frat house, according to news reports.

St. John's alum Justin Corpolongo, 23, nearly bled to death after his roommate knifed him Tuesday morning just blocks away from the university's Queens campus, his parents told the New York Daily News.

"One of his abs was cut in half — and that ab probably saved his life," the victim's father told the Daily News on Thursday.

Law enforcement sources told the New York Post that the argument began when lacrosse captain Matthew Stockfeder woke up Corpolongo, a former teammate, by playing loud music.

Stockfeder, 21, left their off-campus apartment to meet up with several teammates at a frat house but kept texting Corpolongo, who showed up and started arguing with him, according to the Post.

Corpolongo was holding Stockfeder's head down when he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen, the Post reported.

The 2018 alum was rushed to New York-Presbyterian/Queens, where he underwent surgery for two five-inch stab wounds, according to the Daily News.

Stockfeder, a senior from Long Island, was charged with assault and released on $5,000 bail, the Daily News reported.

"The University is aware of an incident involving a student and an alum that occurred at an off-campus location, not owned by the University, and is fully cooperating with the investigation by law enforcement officials," St. John's University spokesman Brian Browne told the Daily News on Wednesday.
