Taiyaki Will Bring Its Fish-Shaped Ice Cream Cones To Flushing
Taiyaki NYC is bringing the signature Japanese treat to Downtown Flushing with a new pop-up shop.

FLUSHING, QUEENS — Taiyaki NYC is bringing its signature fish-shaped ice cream cones to Downtown Flushing with a new pop-up shop.
The Instagram-famous ice cream creations debut at the Queens Center Mall food court on Friday.
The pop-up will offer matcha, vanilla and chocolate ice cream in red-bean taiyaki cones, as well as taro slushies and matcha frappes, though the menu may change. The pop-up will be open until October 21.

Taiyaki is a sweet, fish-shaped pastry commonly filled with red-bean paste. The popular Japanese treat is named for sea bream ("tai" in Japanese), which is prized in Japanese culture and cuisine.

Tai-shaped pastries are common thank-you gifts to guests at weddings, according to the brand, and some hang pictures of tai in front of their homes.
Taiyaki NYC is giving its first 100 customers at the Flushing pop-up a limited-edition enamel pin. During the grand opening weekend, customers who spend over $15 will get a free unicorn float.
