Watch: Thief Tackles, Robs Woman In Flushing Parking Garage

A shocking video shows the woman flying face first into the ground after the man chases her and snatches her purse.

FLUSHING, QUEENS -- A thief was caught on tape snatching a woman's purse and throwing her to the ground after chasing her through a Flushing parking garage.

Police are searching for the man who sent the 59-year-old woman flying to the ground on Monday when he ran up behind her and grabbed her purse.

Surveillance footage inside the Royal Plaza parking garage at 132-35 41 Road shows the woman begin to run away as the thief, clad in a bright red winter jacket, dashes up behind her at around 4:45 p.m. The man is then shown simultaneously snatching the woman's purse and shoving her, sending her face first into the concrete.

The thief then bolted from the parking garage down 41 Road toward Main Street with the woman's purse, which contained credit cards, an iPhone 6S and around $400 in cash, police said.

The woman suffered minor injuries to her legs and arms from the fall, authorities said.

Cops described thief as a black-haired, brown-eyed man with a medium build estimated to be around 20 to 30 years old. In addition to the bright red coat, he also wore a gray baseball hat and black pants.
